Task 1 progression summary (week 1 - week 6)

While the core concept of developing a product that combines the Malaysian word kenyal with a stress ball remained consistent throughout the project, several refinements were made over the 7-week development period as the concept and brand guidelines evolved.

The initial idea was to create a soft, chewy stress-relief toy inspired by the texture of Malaysian foods. As the concept developed, we introduced the idea of including prompt cards designed to support students' mental well-being by providing relaxation techniques, positive reflections, and practical stress-management tips tailored to their daily challenges.

From the beginning, the brand identity aimed to communicate elasticity, softness, comfort, and playfulness. Through feedback sessions with lecturers, I was able to further refine various aspects of the brand, including the color palette, color variations, and overall visual direction.

Week 7: Individual Consultation - After presentation

Based on the feedback received after the presentation, I finalized the brand guidelines and completed the detailed packaging design. The refinements helped ensure that the final product better reflected the brand's playful, soft, and stress-relieving identity.

Reflective Writing

One of the most valuable lessons I learned was the importance of iteration in the design process. Feedback from lecturers helped me identify areas that needed refinement, particularly the color palette, visual consistency, and overall presentation of the brand. Through these revisions, I gained a better understanding of how design decisions influence users' perceptions of a product.

Another key achievement was completing the packaging design. Developing the dieline and creating a 3D mock-up helped me consider practical aspects such as structure, information hierarchy, and user experience. I also learned how packaging can communicate a product's personality and values before the user even interacts with it.
