Final Reflection

This module has been one of the most intellectually challenging and creatively fulfilling parts of my academic journey. Engaging in a research-focused project within the entertainment design field has allowed me to sharpen my ability to critically analyze visual culture, media practices, and design theory. The process of developing the dissertation draft was rigorous, requiring extensive reading, critical thinking, and academic writing. It tested my patience and resilience, but ultimately taught me the importance of research structure, scholarly voice, and maintaining objectivity while expressing creative ideas.

Task 1, the Dissertation Draft, really pushed me to dig deeper into my chosen topic and think critically about the sources I used. There were moments I felt stuck or overwhelmed, but with each round of feedback and revision, I started to see the direction more clearly. Then came Task 2—the Visual Design Publication—which was a breath of fresh air. It gave me the chance to let my creativity flow again and translate my research into a visual form that felt more “me.” Finding the balance between design aesthetics and academic content was tricky, but also exciting.

The Turnitin report in Task 3 was a helpful reality check. It made me more mindful of how I used references and reminded me how easy it is to accidentally overlook proper citation. I’m glad I learned that lesson now rather than later. Lastly, Task 4, researching for article publication, gave me a peek into the academic world beyond university. It made me realize that what I’m doing now could have real value out there.

This module wasn’t easy, but it’s been incredibly meaningful. I’ve grown not just as a designer, but as a thinker. I’ve learned how to support my creative instincts with solid research and how to communicate ideas in both written and visual formats. I’m leaving this module feeling more prepared—and more inspired—than I ever expected.
