Objective:

This assignment requires creating a detailed proposal to redesign an existing website. Your proposal should showcase your ability to analyze the current design and functionality critically and suggest improvements to enhance user experience, visual appeal, and overall performance.

Assignment Description:

Choose an existing website with design and UX issues. Create a detailed redesign proposal addressing this.

Website Analysis:

Design Analysis: Evaluate the current design's layout, colors, fonts, images, and overall look.

User Experience (UX):

Evaluate the site's ease of use, menu structure, and device compatibility. Pinpoint areas needing improvement.

Functionality:

Assess the site's performance, focusing on load speed, responsiveness, and cross-device/browser compatibility.

Redesign Goals:

Redesign Goals: Define clear objectives (e.g., improve usability, modernize look, enhance brand alignment) and identify the target audience, explaining how the new design will address their specific needs.

Design Proposal:

Visual Design: Present new design ideas with visual references and wireframes. Explain your design choices.

UX Enhancements:

Suggest UX improvements like streamlined navigation, clearer content structure, and more engaging interactive elements.

Technical Considerations:

Propose technical improvements like mobile optimization and faster load times.

Website Analysis:

For this analysis, I will examine the website of a local library that showcases contemporary artworks. The current website, while functional, has several areas that could benefit from modernization and improved user experience.

Current Website Overview:

The homepage suffers from poor visual hierarchy and doesn't effectively highlight featured exhibitions. Additionally, the navigation menu is disorganized and fails to properly prioritize essential book information. The book portfolio pages show inconsistency in their presentation and formatting, while mobile users face significant challenges due to poor responsiveness across different devices.

Key Areas for Improvement:

The website would benefit from several key improvements to enhance user experience. The site needs a more intuitive navigation structure for book portfolios, and the overall mobile experience should be enhanced through responsive design principles to ensure accessibility across all devices.

Visual Design Issues:

The color scheme lacks unity and doesn't effectively complement the artistic nature of the whole site view. Poor spacing and alignment choices result in unnecessary visual clutter that distracts from the recommended book and events.

Typography and Product Presentation:

The current typography choices lack hierarchy with font sizes and styles that don't effectively guide users through the content.

Design Direction:

The new design direction will emphasize clean, minimalist layouts that prioritize artwork visibility while maintaining visual interest. A color palette searched by Pinterest and other websites will complement rather than compete with the displayed pieces, using subtle gradients and white space to create a greater visual. The interface will incorporate transitions to enhance user engagement without overwhelming the artistic content.

Wireframe Approach:

User Experience Enhancements:

The user experience will be enhanced through several improvements. The menu structure will be simplified with clear categorization of book collections, making navigation intuitive and efficient.
